Renewable Energy Sources-Digital Twins

Development of digital twins for solar energy applications aimed at exploitation and penetration of photovoltaic systems from level city (link) to global scale and coverage (link). The term “digital twin” refers to a virtual model of a real system and hence, a digital twin for urban solar applications scale dynamically represents distributed electricity generation from photovoltaic systems. The results will support the download decisions towards a gradual energy transition strategy, promoting the transformation of existing urban tissues into “smart” sustainable energy cities (link).

Solar Electric Cars

It was developed for Magdi Yacoub’s clinic in Aswan, Egypt detailed business plan for the implementation of an integrated project of renewable sources with a nominal power of 50 MW. I was responsible for them energy calculations and simulations, as well as for the scenarios installation of the solar park. The size of the project will cover in addition to energy needs of the clinic, and the city of Aswan contributing significantly in the mix of energy sources (supply of 128 GWh on an annual basis). Laboratory Characterization of Photovoltaic Panels

Implement a laboratory study to understand how a photovoltaic panel reacts to different environmental conditions and how they affect overall performance. The experiment was about investigation of the performance of a photovoltaic under various extremes uneven temperature and radiation profiles, produced by artificial lighting (link).

Solar Park Inspection With Drones

In the context of the widespread use of drones in numerous applications, an innovative study was completed with the aim of utilizing them in monitoring of photovoltaic parks.Centered on possibility autonomous operation, early warning and download support decisions, an intelligent system was developed that can identify with the use of thermal imaging defective panels and conditions that require general maintenance or cleaning of the respective solar park (link).

Energy Autonomy of Antikythera

The National Observatory of Athens contributing to the energy transition of small islands of the Aegean Sea through the utilization of renewables of energy sources, plans the energy autonomy for the island of Antikythera (link). With the Geosciences Observatory as a springboard and the Climate Change PAGAIA which in its full operation is expected to triple the energy needs of the island, a number of were studied installation scenarios of photovoltaic and solar thermal solutions which are able to meet the needs of the entire island (link).

Solar Atlas of Egypt

Providing specialized energy potential estimates to the authority renewable energy sources of Egypt (NREA) for 29 nearby areas of cities that indicated to us where solar installations are planned and wind systems. The most important project was completed in 2019 in the area of Benban with a total capacity of 1.8 GW. This study in combination with climatic maps for the entire area of Egypt is an official government document of the Ministry of Energy. Responsible for writing the solar atlas and all the calculations, charts and maps (link).

Athens Solar Cadastre

Development of an information platform for Athens with the aim of penetrating the solar systems in the urban fabric. The term solar land registry refers in the geometrical description and visualization of solar energy potential that can be exploited by the respective building/building block/municipality with the use of photovoltaics on building roofs (link). It is based on utilization geoscopic data of high resolution, on advanced platforms graphics generation, radiation propagation models and architectures supercomputing cloud. It works both climatically and in real time, with the ultimate goal of facilitating urban planning, supporting energy distribution managers and the effective integration of this in the electrical smart networks (link).

Benban Solar Park

It was developed for Magdi Yacoub’s clinic in Aswan, Egypt detailed business plan for the implementation of an integrated project of renewable sources with a nominal power of 50 MW. I was responsible for them energy calculations and simulations, as well as for the scenarios installation of the solar park. The size of the project will cover in addition to energy needs of the clinic, and the city of Aswan contributing significantly in the mix of energy sources (supply of 128 GWh on an annual basis).
